Teen Parent Advocacy

Teen Parent Advocacy is the only long-term case management program for pregnant and parenting teens in Snohomish County. Our teen advocates work with teen moms and dads to provide information and support, relationship-building, family planning advice, referrals to community resources, and adult mentors.

Teen pregnancy is associated with long-term social, emotional, economic and health-related risk factors that often result in harsh outcomes for teen mothers, their children and society. According to client data and national statistics, some of the long-term consequences for children of teen mothers include health problems including drug addiction, inadequate health care, child abuse and neglect, domestic violence and poor school performance.

Deaconess collaborates with other agencies and alternative high schools to assist teen parents and their children. Together with our partners, we establish a continuum of care and provide a wrap-around network of resources for participants. Through this effort we address client needs, promote self-sufficiency and avoid duplication of services.
